Another good reason why I don't keep these guys. You guys must have nerves of steel.
They're really cool looking but it sux if they are wild and they usually have a temperament and you never no when they might strike. It's not like getting bite by a Boa or Python you know it's not venomous.

not nerves of steel, just love!!. seriously, they make life interesting when cleaning pens, feeding, etc. I feel bad for the rattlers becuase their homes are being destroyed at record speeds and no one, not even our DNR is protecting them. So, I try to propagate the species and release to the wild where they can live productive lives and not worry about humans for awhile.

My past partner went out the pen one night(very drunk) and put his bare foot up to it and was hit 3 times,I could not make him go to the hospital and after getting violently ill overnight he was fine?? ?? After that he never even got so much as a fever when bit!!Sounds crazy but I seen it first hand..Must be something to do with the alcohol?Keeping in mind his blood/alcohol level was prob about even and stayed that way most of the time Ive had knicks and scrapes on my fingertips but never broke skin, lucky me BTW the pen I referred to was made of 1/4 inch mesh wire..
